The Tidewater Fence Topper is a 3 mm mild steel panel, plasma-cut with bold rolling waves, curling crests and flying spray, designed to fix along the top of a garden fence. It is made in two lengths, 1830 × 450 mm for a standard 6 ft panel and 915 × 450 mm for a 3 ft section, so you can run it the full length of a boundary or pick out a single bay.
The wave line gives a fence real movement, which suits a seaside garden, a terrace in a coastal town, or anywhere you want a nod to the water without a single shell or anchor in sight. It also works well above a pond or a blue-painted shed, where the curling crests echo what is below.
Pick the finish that fits your garden. In raw steel the waves weather to a rusty orange-brown, a little like old harbour ironwork; the flip side is that rust can run down and stain light slabs or walls underneath. Satin black gives a sharp silhouette against the sky, and anthracite grey is softer next to grey or stained timber. Both colours are powder coated for a durable finish.
The panel has a solid 40 mm rail along the bottom with pre-cut Ø8 mm fixing holes: five holes on the 6 ft length and four on the 3 ft. Screw it to your fence top rail or posts with exterior screws of your choice.
Looking after it takes very little. Hose off salt spray or garden grime on coated panels, and leave raw steel to do its own thing. Your topper is made to order in our Knowsley workshop and we'll confirm your dispatch date by email.
Will it cope with a seaside garden?
The powder-coated satin black and anthracite grey finishes give a durable coloured finish; rinse off salt spray now and then. Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina, and faster in salty air.
Will raw steel stain my patio?
It can. Rust run-off may mark pale paving or render below the panel, so a powder-coated finish is the better choice above light surfaces.
How is it fixed?
Through pre-cut Ø8 mm holes in the 40 mm bottom rail, five on the 1830 mm size and four on the 915 mm size, into your fence top rail or posts. Screws are not included.
