The Sunflower Metal Garden Stake is a tall mild steel sunflower, with a seed-patterned centre and broad leaves, cut in one piece on an integral ground spike.
Unlike the real thing, this sunflower keeps its head up all year. The centre is cut with a pattern of seeds that lets light through, and the broad leaves reach out from the stem as they would in late summer on an allotment.
At 985 mm tall it gives height to a front border, fills a gap where a climber has yet to grow, or adds a bit of colour and shape to a raised bed on the allotment through the bare months. It also makes a bright gift for a new home or a grandparent's garden.
The stake is plasma-cut in one piece from 3 mm mild steel and measures 310 mm wide × 985 mm high, including the integral ground spike. It comes as a single stake or as a pair (save on two), handy for flanking a path or a gate. Push the spike 250–300 mm into firm soil; nothing else is needed.
Choose from raw steel, rust patina or satin black. Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina outdoors, giving a warm, sun-baked tone; rust patina starts you off with that weathered look and continues to age. Satin black is a durable coloured finish for a bold, graphic outline. Keep rusting finishes out of contact with pale paving or edging, which can stain.

Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina outdoors, and the rust patina option starts with that weathered look and keeps weathering. Satin black is a durable coloured finish if you would rather avoid rust tones.
How do I put it in the ground?
Push the integral spike 250–300 mm into firm soil. In loose or sandy soil, firm the earth around it after inserting.
Can I put it in a pot?
Yes, as long as the compost is deep and firm enough to take the spike 250–300 mm down.
