The Saltmarsh Fence Topper is a 3 mm mild steel panel plasma-cut with swaying reeds, bulrushes and seed-headed grasses, made to add height and texture to the top of a garden fence. Choose 1830 × 450 mm for a standard 6 ft fence panel or 915 × 450 mm for a 3 ft gap.
The upright stems and feathery heads suit naturalistic planting: a gravel garden full of ornamental grasses, a wildlife pond edged with rushes, or a modern prairie-style border. Because the design is mostly vertical, it lets plenty of light through, so it lifts a boundary without making a narrow garden feel boxed in.
You can have it in raw steel, satin black or anthracite grey. Raw steel will rust outdoors, turning an orange-brown that looks right at home next to seed heads in autumn; just avoid it above pale stone or render, which the rust run-off can stain. The powder-coated satin black and anthracite grey give a durable coloured finish and make the stems read like pen-and-ink against the sky.
Installation uses the 40 mm solid rail at the bottom of the panel, which carries pre-cut Ø8 mm holes: five on the 6 ft version and four on the 3 ft. Screw through them into the fence top rail or posts using exterior-grade fixings.

Will the raw steel version stain my gravel or paving?
Rust run-off can mark pale paving, stone or render below. Gravel usually hides it well; if the panel sits above light surfaces, choose satin black or anthracite grey.

Will it block much light?
The reed design is mostly upright stems with open gaps, so it lets a good amount of light through while still adding height.
