Heron Plasma-Cut Garden Stake – Mild Steel

£74.99

The Heron Metal Garden Stake is a tall mild steel silhouette of a grey heron standing motionless at the water's edge, cut in one piece with a spike for pushing into soil.

Anyone who has watched a heron fishing knows that long, patient stillness: neck drawn in, bill angled down, one moment from a strike. At 720 mm high and 450 mm wide, this is the largest of our garden stakes and has real presence among marginal planting.

It looks most at home beside a wildlife pond, at the edge of a bog garden, or among tall grasses and irises near a water feature. Placed at the back of a border, it gives height where plants have yet to fill in.

The stake is plasma-cut in one piece from 3 mm mild steel and measures 450 mm wide × 720 mm high, including the integral ground spike. Push the spike 250–300 mm into firm soil; nothing else is needed.

Finish options are raw steel, rust patina and satin black. Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina outdoors, which blends into reeds and natural planting; rust patina starts with that look and carries on weathering. Satin black is a durable coloured finish that reads as a sharp outline against water. Keep rusting finishes out of the pond itself and away from pale stone edging, which can stain.

Made to order in our Knowsley workshop; we'll confirm your dispatch date by email.

Questions

Will it rust?
Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina outdoors, and the rust patina option starts with that weathered look and keeps weathering. Satin black is a durable coloured finish if you would rather avoid rust tones.

How do I put it in the ground?
Push the integral spike 250–300 mm into firm soil. In loose or sandy soil, firm the earth around it after inserting.

Can I stand it in the pond?
It is designed to push into firm soil at the water's edge. We recommend keeping raw or rust patina steel out of the water itself.

Can you make it in a different size?
Yes. Use our Custom Plasma Cutting quote form with the size you need and we will come back to you with a price.
