Hare Plasma-Cut Garden Stake – Mild Steel

from £29.99

The Hare Metal Garden Stake is a mild steel cut-out of a hare sitting up on its haunches, ears raised, set on a spike that pushes straight into the ground.

Hares have a long history in British folklore, and there is something about that alert, upright pose, ears tall and eyes fixed on the horizon, that feels watchful and a bit wild. At 795 mm high this figure is large enough to be seen from across a lawn.

Place it at the edge of a wildflower meadow patch, among ornamental grasses, or at the end of a long cottage border where it can look out over the garden. Two together make a lively pair either side of a gate.

The stake is plasma-cut in one piece from 3 mm mild steel and measures 250 mm wide × 795 mm high, including the integral ground spike. It comes as a single stake or as a pair (save on two), handy for flanking a path or a gate. Push the spike 250–300 mm into firm soil; nothing else is needed.

You can choose raw steel, rust patina or satin black. Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina outdoors, which looks very natural among grasses and seed heads; rust patina gives you that finish straight away and continues to weather. Satin black is a durable coloured finish for a sharper silhouette. Keep rusting finishes away from pale paving to avoid staining.

Made to order in our Knowsley workshop; we'll confirm your dispatch date by email.

Questions

Will it rust?
Raw steel will rust to an orange-brown patina outdoors, and the rust patina option starts with that weathered look and keeps weathering. Satin black is a durable coloured finish if you would rather avoid rust tones.

How do I put it in the ground?
Push the integral spike 250–300 mm into firm soil. In loose or sandy soil, firm the earth around it after inserting.

Will it stay upright in the wind?
Push the spike 250–300 mm into firm soil. In soft ground, firm the earth well around it so it stays steady.

Can you make it in a different size?
Yes. Use our Custom Plasma Cutting quote form with the size you need and we will come back to you with a price.
