The Daybreak Metal Side Gate is a 1800 mm tall garden gate with a plasma-cut mild steel infill of a rising sun throwing long rays beneath a drifting cloud. It comes 900 mm or 1000 mm wide, as a complete welded gate or as the infill panel alone.
Sunrise gates have been a favourite on British homes since the 1930s, and this one updates the idea with a softer, more modern cloud. It suits a between-the-wars semi, a new-build side passage that needs character, or a back gate opening onto a lane. The long rays fan out across the panel, giving plenty of coverage while still letting light through.
With the complete welded gate, the 3 mm Daybreak infill is set into a steel box-section frame, fabricated and welded in our workshop. Hinges and latch are not included, so you can choose hardware for your own posts or brickwork. Prefer to build it yourself? The infill panel only is 3 mm plate sized to weld or bolt into your own frame.
Pick satin black or anthracite grey for a powder-coated, durable coloured finish, or raw steel if you like the look of rust: bare steel will weather outdoors to an orange-brown patina, and the run-off can stain a pale path or step below.
Keep the hinges greased and give coated finishes an occasional wash. Each Daybreak gate is made to order in our Knowsley workshop, and we'll confirm your dispatch date by email.

Yes. Raw mild steel rusts to an orange-brown patina outdoors, and run-off can stain a pale path or step beneath it.
